EDGED WEAPONS
This seminar utilizes four three-hour modules to teach you how to fight with “edged weapons” (knives, swords, and spears) and how to defend yourself against them. There are 12 hours required for basic certification. You need only the ability to perform physical training exercises. No previous martial arts or tactical training required.
Part I. Tactical Knife (3 hours)
The first part of the seminar teaches the fundamentals of knife fighting, including grips, stances, footwork, angles of offense and defense, strategy and tactics, sparring, and how to cut. Practice includes the folding knife, fixed blades, and sparring with simulators.
Part II. Knife Fighting (3 hours)
Part II of the seminar covers fighting from grips: up v. up, down v. up, and down v. down will be shown including dynamic exercises that help you develop speed and read your opponent.
Part III. Advanced Knife (3 hours)
Part III includes close quarter combat applications using knives, counter for counter and re-countering techniques. This course also includes less common edged weapons, such as axes, swords, and spears.
Part IV. Knife Disarming (3 hours)
Part IV teaches how to fight unarmed against a knife wielding attacker. This part of the edged weapons training program picks up with empty hands against edged weapons and return to sender flow drills. Prerequisite Part III.
