Eskrima (Arnis, Kali) is Filipino fencing, a self-defense method that is found in the Philippine Archipelago. Esgrima is the Spanish term for fencing and self-deFENSE. The sword and dagger techniques are adapted from dueling weapons used by Spanish aristocrats. Spanish swordsmanship, including geometric theory, was blended with the native Filipino martial arts of Malay (Silat) and Chinese (Kuntaw) origin. Classic Eskrima (Esgrima Clasica) is our system of Filipino fencing, which includes the styles: Aldabon, Doce Pares Eskrima, Derobio Eskrima, Dynamic Arnis, Rikarte/En Kruzada Eskrima, Lapu-Lapu Arnes, Ohido, Pekiti Tirsia Kali, and Tapado. The essential techniques include: single cane or sword, double cane or sword, sword and dagger, dagger, chain, whip, flail, staff, spear, empty hands, healing arts, and metaphysics.
